From September 23 to October 1 2024, the Paris Fashion Week brings fashion month to a close, featuring collections from a number of notable haute-couture houses. Brands brought forth an eclectic mix of creativity, with designers showcasing bold experimentation and interesting designs.

The week also sets the tone for upcoming trends that we may see throughout 2025, with distinct shifts in how designers approach various pieces. Here’s a glimpse into the bold and innovative designs from renowned luxury brands, along with the emerging trends poised to shape the fashion landscape in the coming year.

Valentino

A Return to Maximalism

If there is one thing that is apparent in Paris this year, it is the return of maximalist designs. Alessandro Michele debuted with Valentino, unveiling wonderfully eclectic looks that go in the complete opposite direction of the quiet luxury trend that has been circulating in the past year.

Taking inspiration from valentino’s archives, Michele reinterpreted classic pieces for contemporary times. The collection features vibrant paisleys, florals, and polka dots, as well as ruffles and heavy embroidery. Michele combined Valentinos rich heritage with a forward-thinking vision of beauty and creativity.

DIOR

Athletic Influences

Sportswear has always been a source of inspiration for fashion, whether it be for streetwear or luxury. This was especially shown during Vogue World 2024, which celebrated a century of French fashion, blending high fashion with sports in a spectacular show.

Dior’s SS25 collection opened with artist Sagg Napoli firing arrows at a bullseye. The collection featured asymmetrical cuts, bodysuits, and motorcycle jackets. Designer Maria Grazia Chiuri features motifs that exemplify the collection’s sporty influence, linking it to the Maison’s historical connection with equestrian sports and tailored elegance.

Louis Vuitton

Layers

Louis Vuitton designer Nicolas Ghesquiere took layers to another level, with the SS25 collection highlighting bold silhouettes, exaggerated shoulders, and intricate layering techniques.

The accessories incorporated are not to be overlooked, from oversized necklaces to patterned and textured shoes. Motifs such as softness and structure highlight the contrast attempted by Ghesquiere, featuring flowing fabrics layered over structured garments, ballooning sleeves and cinched waists. Ghesquiere’s pieces are a tasteful exploration into different garments and layers.
